YOUNG HARRIS, Ga. | Jordan Skelton's header in the 31st minute was the difference as No. 8-ranked Lander University defeated No. 1 Young Harris College 1-0 in the third round of the NCAA Division II Men's Soccer Tournament Friday (Nov. 16) evening at the YHC Soccer and Lacrosse Field.
The Bearcats improved to 16-1-3 and will face No. 20 Barry University in the quarterfinals Sunday (Nov. 18) at 1 p.m. Barry advanced 4-2 on penalty kicks over Lynn University in its match after the teams battled through a scoreless tie. The Mountain Lions, who have qualified for nationals four of the past five seasons, ended their campaign at 17-1-1.
Lander took a 1-0 lead on Oliver Brock's direct kick from 25 yards out. Brock found Skelton in the box and Skelton's header landed in the upper right corner of the goal.
Young Harris outshot the Bearcats 12-3 in the second half and played the final 14:27 of the match a man up, but couldn't find the equalizer.Â

The Mountain Lions had a 14-6 advantage on shots and an 11-2 margin on corner kicks. Jacob Withers had three saves in goal for the Bearcats, while
Alex Iglesias had two for Young Harris.
