SAVANNAH, Ga. | Jane Trzaska tossed a no-hitter as Armstrong State University eliminated Young Harris College 7-0 from the NCAA Division II Southeast Regional Softball Tournament Friday (May 12).
The No. 3-seeded Pirates improved to 32-12 and will face No. 7 seed Pfeiffer University in Saturday's (May 13) 11 a.m. championship game. The No. 6-seeded Mountain Lions ended their most successful season at 43-14. The 43 wins are the most in the program's NCAA era.
Trzaska (15-7), who threw a one-hitter against the Mountain Lions during the regular season, tossed her second no-hitter of her career. Trzaska nearly had a perfect game, but issused a free pass to
Jill Torres in the fourth inning.
The Pirates scored all seven of their runs off homers. Logan Harrell hit a three-run blast in the third inning, then added a solo shot in the fifth. Hannah Reppert had a two-run shot in the sixth inning, then Macy Coleman followed with a solo homer.
Jeanie Perrucci (17-6) took the loss for the Mountain Lions.
