YOUNG HARRIS, Ga. | Young Harris split a non-conference softball doubleheader with Lee University Tuesday (April 11) afternoon at E.D. Rivers Field.

The Flames took game one 7-3 while the Mountain Lions won game two 14-5 in five innings.

The Mountain Lions improved to 36-10 while the Flames fell to 29-13. Young Harris returns to action Friday (April 14) as they host Columbus State University in a 2 p.m. Peach Belt Conference doubleheader. It will also be the team's Cancer Awareness Day.Â

Young Harris took an early lead in the bottom of the second inning in the opener on RBI doubles by
Chandler Stooksbury and
Georgia Webb. Lee took advantage of errors by the Mountain Lions by scoring five in the top of the third. Lee would score two more runs in the top of the fourth. Young Harris scored once in the bottom of the fifth thanks to a RBI triple by
Hannah Harrison. Taylor Moran pitched two innings of scoreless relief to save the game - her sixth of the year - Â for the Flames.

Jeanie Perrucci (17-5) earned the loss for Young Harris allowing five runs, one unearned, on seven hits over 2 2/3 innings.

Leigh Beatenbough (14-5) won the game for Lee, allowing three runs on four hits and striking out three over five innings.

Game two saw a complete opposite side of scoring. The Mountain Lions scored eight runs in the bottom of the first, taking advantage of miscues on the field by the Flames. Harrison hit a three-run homer over the right field fence, her first of the season, to give Young Harris the 8-0 lead.
Jordie Holt would draw a bases loaded walk and
Grace Botti drove in a run via a sacrifice fly in the bottom of the second. The Flames rallied in the third for four runs then the Mountain Lions scored four more of their own in the bottom of the fourth.

Nikkie Kovalsky (18-5) earned the win for Young Harris, allowing five runs - four unearned - on eight hits with two strikeouts over five innings.

Taylor Moran (9-4) took the loss for Lee allowing eight runs (six unearned) on six hits over 2/3 of an inning.
