ST. AUGUSTINE, Fla. | Young Harris College and Flagler College split a Peach Belt Conference softball doubleheader Saturday (March 12) afternoon at Flagler Field.

Young Harris took the opener 5-0 while Flagler claimed a 1-0 decision in the nightcap. The Mountain Lions improved to 17-7 overall and to 4-2 inside the conference while the Saints fell to 17-14 and 2-6. Young Harris returns to E.D. Rivers Field for a 3 p.m. doubleheader Wednesday (March 16) against No. 6-ranked University of North Alabama.

The Mountain Lions took a 1-0 lead in the second inning of the opener as
Rachel Benson drove in the run on a fielder's choice.

It would stay that way until the seventh.
Lindsay Tudor led off the inning with a homer – her second of 2016 – to right field.
Sarah Magill put the exclamation point on the win with her three-run homer to center field to give Young Harris a 5-0 lead. Magill's sixth homer of the season drove in Benson, who had doubled, and pinch hitter
Georgia Webb, who had singled.

Darby Stanford (13-1) twirled a two-hitter as she struck out four for the Mountain Lions. Haleigh Corbally (7-5) took the loss for the Saints.

Jeanie Perrucci and Magill had two hits apiece to lead the Mountain Lions, who had eight hits.

Flagler scored its lone run in the third inning of game two as Malloree Escue and Mackenzie Conley had back-to-back doubles off Perrucci (2-5).

Callie Reed (7-4) scattered four hits and struck out five in the complete-game effort for the Saints.

Perrucci, Magill, Sarah Belt Marquis and
Chandler Stooksbury each accounted for a hit apiece for the Mountain Lions.
