YOUNG HARRIS, Ga. | Carly Rich scored twice in a six-minute span as Young Harris College picked up a 2-1 Peach Belt Conference women's soccer victory over the University of Montevallo on Senior Day Saturday (Oct. 31) afternoon at the YHC Soccer and Lacrosse Field.
Young Harris ended its season at 5-9-1 overall and to 3-7-1 in the Peach Belt while the Falcons ended their campaign at 2-13-2 and 1-10-0.
Montevallo jumped out to a 1-0 lead 112 seconds into the match as Taylor Gonzales knocked the ball into the right corner of the goal off a Brooke Griffin throw in from the left side.
Young Harris, which outshot Montevallo 21-9, tied the match at 1 as
Carly Rich collected a loose ball in the box and threaded her shot the ball through the small opening between the goalkeeper and the left post at the 29:08 mark.
Rich tallied her second goal of the match and third of the season at the 35:25 mark as she converted a cross from senior
Dani Heald. The cross from Heald went from the right side and went under the arms of the Montevallo goalkeeper and landed at Rich's feet at the left post and knocked the ball in the net.
Arielle Charles recorded three saves for the Mountain Lions in goal while Katie Pearson collected 10 for the Falcons.
Heald was one of six YHC players honored in Senior Day ceremonies after the match. In addition to Heald, Elena Newman,
