HARTSVILLE, S.C. – Haley Holderfield scored twice in as many games as Young Harris College took a 4-2 women's soccer decision over Coker College Sunday (Sept. 2) morning at the Coker Soccer Field.
The Mountain Lions improved to 2-0-0 as they defeated their second consecutive Conference Carolinas opponent while the Cobras slipped to 0-2-0. Young Harris returns to action Saturday (Sept. 8) when they travel to Gainesville, Ga., for a 7 p.m. contest against Brenau University.
Holderfield, who leads Young Harris with four goals this season, struck twice in the opening 20 minutes to take a 2-0 lead. A mistake by the Coker defense allowed the Mountain Lions an own goal and a 3-0 lead at the half.
After a Cobras goal, the Mountain Lions got it back when Kimmie Tierney launched a shot from 25 yards out and into the top right corner of the goal. Coker would score another goal with four minutes remaining to account for the final score.
