YOUNG HARRIS, Ga. – Kim Fischer and Leah Hatheway teamed up for two first-half goals as Berry College handed Young Harris College a 2-0 women's soccer defeat Tuesday (Nov. 8) afternoon at the Frances Wood Wilson Soccer Field.
The Vikings ended their season at 12-3-1 while the Mountain Lions ended their campaign at 10-7-1.
Fischer scored her seventh goal of the season at the 13:08 mark on a header at the top of the box that was set up by Hatheway's corner kick. Hatheway made the score 2-0 14 minutes later when she took a cross from Fischer near the top of the box and sent her 16th goal of the season into the upper right hand corner of the net.
Berry outshot Young Harris 20-4 and held a 7-0 advantage in corner kicks. Kelsey Cunningham, one of nine seniors recognized before the match, had nine saves for the Mountain Lions in goal while Brooke Clement had three in the shutout.
In addition to Cunningham, the Mountains Lions recognized Kaylin Canup, Cat Durham, Kelley Lyness, Lauren Martin, Jenni Mathis, Allie Matulia, Emily Villas and Rachel Wilkes.
