MARS HILL, N.C. – The Young Harris College men’s soccer team surrendered a pair of second half goals, while playing a man down for the final 18 minutes, in falling to Mars Hill College, 2-0, during Senior Night on Friday night.
After a scoreless first half, Mars Hill took advantage of Young Harris playing a man down as Thomas Crosby was sent off with a red card in the 72nd minute.
The Lions (12-4-1) finally got into the scoring column in the 81st minute as Rury Caulfield’s through ball found Isaiah Schafer for the goal to give Mars Hill a 1-0 lead.
The Lions put the game away in the 88th minute as Felipe Farraro assisted on Brandon Tardioli’s goal, giving Mars Hill a 2-0 advantage.
Wezley Barnard recorded eight saves in goal for the Mountain Lions (2-8-4), while Justin Spencer had one for Mars Hill.
The Lions dominated the game by out-shooting Young Harris, 21-4, and had a 6-0 advantage on corner kicks.
Young Harris concludes the season 1:00 p.m., Wednesday, Nov. 3 at the YHC Soccer Field against Berry College.
