YOUNG HARRIS, Ga. – Morgan Cheripko and Mallory Mays each scored three goals as the University of Tampa defeated Young Harris College 16-3 in a non-conference women's lacrosse match Wednesday (April 16) afternoon at the YHC Soccer and Lacrosse Field.
The Spartans improved to 7-9 while the Mountain Lions ended their second season in their program's history with a 1-16 ledger.
Tampa opened a 7-0 lead after Bria Litow scored with 11:43 left in the first half. The Mountain Lions got back-to-back goals by Kaylynn Roach to end the first half and start the second period, but the Spartans scored nine of the final 10 goals in the match. Jaclyn Kernohan accounted for the final Young Harris goal.
The Mountain Lions scooped up 13 ground balls. Caitlin Pardus, Roach, Anna Lummus, Jordana Freitas and Sarah Nudelman each collected two ground balls while Breanna Farmer, Kernohan and Jessica DuBose each had one. Roach and Kernohan each had one draw control for the Mountain Lions.
Nudelman recorded 11 saves in goal for Young Harris.
