Mountain Lions, Wolves battle in women's lacrosse

YOUNG HARRIS, Ga. – Jaclyn Kernohan, Kaylynn Roach and Ivey Franklin each scored two goals for Young Harris College as the Mountain Lions were defeated by Newberry College 19-7 in a women's lacrosse match Sunday (March 23) afternoon at the YHC Soccer and Lacrosse Field.

Newberry improved to 4-7 while the Mountain Lions fell to 1-12. Young Harris returns to action Saturday (March 29) with a 2 p.m. match against Catawba College in Salisbury, N.C.

The Wolves held a slim 27-22 lead in shots and 14-10 in ground balls. Anna Lummus led the Mountain Lions as she scooped up four ground balls while Kernohan added two more. Kernohan led Young Harris with five draw controls while Jordana Freitas added two more as the Mountain Lions claimed 11 draw controls as a team. 

Sarah Nudelman and Carter Moore each recorded two saves in goal for the Mountain Lions.
