Young Harris begins Florida trip against Saint Leo

SAINT LEO, Fla. – Twelve different players scored as Saint Leo University defeated Young Harris College 18-5 in a women's lacrosse match Tuesday (March 11) evening at the Turf Stadium.

The Lions improved to 5-1 while the Mountain Lions fell to 1-7. Young Harris continues its three-match Florida spring break trip with a 4 p.m. contest at the Northeast Regional Park in Davenport, Fla., Wednesday (March 12) against American International College. 

Jaclyn Kernohan scored three times, including two off free-position shots, for the Mountain Lions while Kaylynn Roach accounted for the other two scorers. Ivey Franklin registered an assist for Young Harris.

Saint Leo led 13-2 at the half, but the Mountain Lions battled in the second half as they limited Saint Leo to five goals. Saint Leo held a slim 14-11 advantage on draw controls. Kernohan and Jordana Freitas each won four draw controls for Young Harris while Roach had two wins and Franklin the other.

Franklin scooped up three ground balls for Young Harris while Peyton King had two. Roach, Kernohan, Anna Lummus and Carter Moore each added a ground ball.

Sarah Nudelman (nine) and Moore (four) combined for 13 stops between the pipes for the Mountain Lions.
