BLAIRSVILLE, Ga. – The Young Harris College men’s golf team finished tied for third Wednesday at the First Annual Mountain Lions Invitational at Old Union Golf Club.

"I want to thank give a special thank you to Ryan Scott, the Head Professional at Old Union and his staff," Mountain Lions coach Brett Beazley said. "The golf course was in outstanding condition and I want to thank the Old Union maintenance staff."

The Mountain Lions finished with a 318, 16 strokes off the champion, North Georgia (302). Faulkner took second with 310, while the Faulkner-B squad was tied for third with Young Harris after firing a 318. Truett McConnell rounded the field with a 319.

Chase Hankla paced Young Harris with a 77, while Matt Lewallen and Evan Jordan each shot 80s. Mathew Peeler fired an 81 and Cameron Medina fired an 83 to round out the team scoring for the Mountain Lions. Young Harris had five players in the tournament playing as individuals. Caleb Kelley shot a 91, while Alex Hood and Travis McAllister fired 92 and 93, respectively. Manuel Patterson shot a 94 and Jessie Brock withdrew from the event.

North Georgia’s Bryson Womack was the Individual Medalist with a 73, while teammate Brian Mallory took second with a 75. Javier Gonzalez of Faulkner’s B-Team was third with a 75 and Howard Duffin of North Georgia took fourth after shooting a 76. Faulkner’s Jeff Stashuk placed fifth with a 76.
