Marco Micaletto has been named to the United Soccer Coaches (formerly NSCAA) NCAA Division II Men's Soccer Scholar All-America team.
Micaletto, a junior midfielder from Rome, Italy, was named to the All-Peach Belt Conference team for the second time in his career in 2017. Micaletto finished the season tied for the team lead in goals (10) and points (21) in 20 starts this season. He finished second in the league in goals and fifth in points. Micaletto scored twice against Clayton State University this season. He also finished in a tie for the most match-winning goals in the Peach Belt with four.Â
Micaletto, who was also named to the United Soccer Coaches NCAA Division II All-Southeast Region team in 2017, was named to the Peach Belt's All-Academic team for the second consecutive season as he has maintained a 3.33 GPA as an interdisciplinary studies major.
The Mountain Lions, who went 14-4-2 in 2017, finished the season ranked 12th nationally and earned a berth to the NCAA Division II National Championship for the third time in the past four seasons. YHC advanced to the quarterfinals for the second time in the program's history before losing to No. 24 Lynn University 2-1. Young Harris defeated three nationally ranked teams - No. 22 Lenoir-Rhyne University (2-0, first round), No. 7 Limestone College (2-0, second round) and No. 17 Lander - to reach the quarterfinals.
